Imo State Government has reiterated plans to look into all issues arising from various autonomous communities over plans to recognise some individuals as traditional rulers.
Secretary to the State Government, Jude Ejiogu, gave the assurance when residents of Iho-dineze in Ikeduru Council visited his office on Sam Mbakwe Road, Owerri.
Ejiogu, represented by his Political Assistant, Kelechi Okoro, reminded the visitors that the government has made it clear that any community with reservations against the names announced on radio as Eze-elect should write to the government.
He described their peaceful demonstration as part of efforts to enthrone peace in communities.
Ejiogu frowned at individuals who destroy properties worth millions in the name of protest, warning them to desist or face the wrath of the law.
Iho-dineze Community Chairman and delegation leader, Emmanuel Nwaodu, said their visit was to register displeasure against the selection of an individual from their area as Ezes-elect.
He stressed that his endorsement was not a collective decision of the people, and pleaded with the state government to reverse it to avoid a break down of law and order.
Nwaodu assured of their willingness to close ranks with the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha to complement its “giant strides” since inception in 2011, and appealed to his people to remain calm and law abiding.
