The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has joined other Nigerians to mourn the former captain and coach of Super Eagles, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi; and Shuibu Amodu, ex-coach of the nation’s football team, who passed away last week.
Amodu died on Saturday, June 11, 2016, while Keshi passed on three days earlier. Madumere described the incidents, which occurred within three days, as shocking and devastating.
The deputy governor said that the exit of the duo marked a serious set back to Nigeria football development given the position of Amodu occupied as the Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation and the position Keshi’s role model stature as the younger generation looked up. He said that the duo contributed immensely to the development of the game of football as players and former coaches of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He therefore sent his condolences to the family members of Keshi and Amodu, respectively, while praying God to grant them fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. He also condoled the Management of Nigeria Football Federation over the losses.
