Imo deputy governor condemns murder of Igbo woman in Kano

-

Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has called for immediate arrest of those behind the gruesome murder of the late Mrs. Bridget Agbaheme in Kano.

Madumere’s call was contained in a press release signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Uche Onwuchekwa.

Madumere, who described the act as unwholesome, barbaric and primitive also called on the security agencies to expedite action and ensure that  every partaker of the act is made to face the wrath of the law.

He regretted that such condemnable acts should be happening at a time Nigerians should be united as a nation to face the daunting challenges of economic recession, security and other socio-political issues.

His words: “I came across a gory photo of a woman by name Mrs Bridget Agbaheme who was beheaded in Kano. The worse is the barbaric manner in which the culprits were dancing around as though she was conquered in primitive war. I read in shock and  to confirm that it truly happened in Kano. This broke me down in tears. I cannot come to terms with this reality that such can still happen in the 21st century. And to add salt in  injury, I realized the one who was murdered in cold blood was my own sister from Mbaitoli”.

Madumere also stressed that no one has the right to take the life of any citizen or even foreigners under the guise of religion or tradition. He therefore called for justice for the soul of Abgaheme whose death, he stated, was most painful and must be condemned by all and sundry.

Madumere commended  Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and other eminent Nigerians for condemning the bloody act.

He however called on all those concerned especially the family members who are pained by the act to remain calm since the Police and other security agencies have already made arrests and are on the trail of others who partook in the act, while assuring that justice must take its cause.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Bridget Agbaheme and for God to grant the family members the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
