Imo Deputy Gov. Ekomaru lauds IBC over Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
The Management and Staff of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC, Owerri, have been commended for their steadfastness in the face of daunting challenges.
The Imo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru gave the commendation during the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organized by the Corporation at the IBC TV Studio, Owerri.
Ekomaru who took the first lesson from the book, Genesis chapter 3, thanked God for the year 2024, emphasising that such special occasion brings joy and harmony, singing and rejoicing for all the Lord had done.
The Deputy Governor who applauded Governor Uzodimma for his administration’s commitments in the development and upliftment of the State, solicited for the people’s support and prayers to the State government.
The Commissioner for Information, Public Enlightenment and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba lauded the IBC management for waxing strong despite the station’s challenges and gave assurance of better days ahead.
The Director General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation IBC Owerri, Ms. Ify Onyegbule who is celebrating 2 years at the helm, appreciated her staff for seeing to it that the event was a success.
Onyegbule had earlier explained that the festival of nine lessons and Carols was a service of Christian worship introduced in 1918 to bring more imaginative approach to worship and maintained that the event had come to stay in IBC as “we continue to bring Imolites together under the banner of God’s words, and soulful music”
Other top government officials who were present at the occasion including the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Johncliff Nwadike, Commissioner for Works Ralph Nwosu, Chief Political Adviser – Enyinnaya Onuegbu presented their appreciation messages.
The choir of St. Maria Goratti, Ikenegbu Owerri presented sonorous hymns to the listening pleasure of guests at the event which also featured readings from the Bible.
