The Story Club Malawi, in partnership with Malawian publisher, Panafrica Publishers Limited, has announced an open submission for its upcoming anthology, Imagine Africa 500. The anthology will collect short stories set in Africa in 2515:
“We urge writers from all over the African continent and in diaspora to give us their dreams, their dreads, their hopes, their fictions about the future in Africa in 500 years from now,” said the organisers.
Those intending to participate can submit a short story to shadai79@yahoo.com by midnight on March 15. There is no set theme or genre – stories can be written on any subject, but must be about Africa and set 500 years in the future. Authors must be born in Africa, or nationals of an African country, or have African parents.
Stories must be written in English, original and unpublished. Stories must be between 3,000 and 3,500 words in length, and authors must also submit a short biography of themselves (300 words maximum). The 10 best short submitted works will be published in the anthology shortly thereafter. For more information, including detailed submission guidelines, visit The Story Club Malawi’s Facebook page.
