Football pundit and former Monaco winger, Victor Ikpeba has predicted that Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen will eventually break the all-time Super Eagles goals record set by legendary striker, Rashidi Yekini.

Osimhen moved to second position on the list after bagging a brace in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda last Friday.

He opened the scoring with a composed side-footed finish from Ademola Lookman’s free-kick in the 11th minute.

He then doubled Nigeria’s advantage  with a brilliant solo effort, winning possession at the halfway line before chipping the goalkeeper just before the break.

He has so far scored 25 goals in 39 appearances for the Super Eagles and now just 12 shy of Yekini’s record of 37.

Speaking on Osimhen’s goal scoring ability, Ikpeba said the 26-year-old is on course to beat Yekini’s record.

“By the way he is going, Osimhen will soon eclipse the record of Yekini.

“He’s a fantastic lad and a committed player who gives everything for the country.

“We will soon see when he will break this record.” Ikpeba predicted.
