The Nigerian-born Pearlena Igbokwe, who is now the chairman, Universal Studio Group, a division of NBCUniversal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies, has been commended by Mr. Peter Obi.
Obi, the vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, made the commendation in a statement yesterday.
The Anambra State former governor expressed delight at what he described as Igbokwe’s major strides and new leadership position, which he said was a thing of great joy and source of pride to the country.
Noting that Igbokwe was the first black woman to head Universal Televion, Obi said that her story of success would inspire the youth, especially females, in the Diaspora, Africa and Nigeria.
Obi also appealed to the youth who were gifted in Arts and Creativity to look up to Igbokwe and aim for the best.
“I congratulate you on your major strides and new leadership position as the chairman, Universal Studio Group. We are proud of you. Your journey in the industry is exemplary to the youth in the Diaspora, Africa and Nigeria”, Obi said.
He further expressed hopes in Igbokwe’s ability to function effectively in her new position, while reminding her that her promotion, which obviously came as a result of hard work, was a call for more work, commitment and dedication.
Obi wished her success in her future endeavours.
