The death has occurred of Alhaji Abu Yusuf Kankia, the national programme coordinator of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)/ Community Based Agricultural and Rural Development Programme (CBARDP).
The late Kankia died Wednesday afternoon, at an undisclosed hospital in Niamey, the capital city of Niger Republic after brief illness.
He died at the age of 57 and was buried in Katsina town according to Islamic rites.
A family source told our correspondent that the decease died after “a brief illness which deteriorated few days ago” and described his death as “a huge loss to the family because he is the rock of the whole extended family”
He is survived by two wives and four children.
Scores of sympathisers including staffs of the programme office of IFAD/CBARDP have been trooping in to his residence along the popular WTC road in Katsina municipal to offer condolence.
