ID Cabasa, however, clarified that he is not suggesting older people lack intelligence, but is instead stressing that wisdom should not be determined by age alone.

Nigerian music producer and singer Olumide Ogunade, better known as ID Cabasa, has challenged the long-held notion that wisdom is an inevitable byproduct of ageing.
Appearing as a guest on the latest episode of The Clarity Zone podcast, the 50-year-old music executive argued that many people presumed to be wise due to their age often merely possess “obsolete experiences.”
He asserted that true wisdom should be measured by competence rather than the passage of time.
While clarifying that he does not believe older people lack intelligence, Cabasa stressed that age alone is an unreliable metric for wisdom.
“The assumption that the older you get, the wiser you are, is an assumption that has never been true,” he said.
“I am not saying older people are not smart or wise. But most times, people see themselves as wiser because they are more experienced, not competent. Many of the experiences you are bringing to the table are now obsolete.”

He further distinguished between the physical process of getting older and the active pursuit of personal development.
“If you are growing as a person, there is a tendency that as you get older, you are going to be wiser. But that isn’t the case if you are not growing, but just ageing,” he added.
Closing his argument, Cabasa highlighted the generational shift in knowledge, particularly regarding technology.
“We are dealing with a generation that was born with computer operating systems, whereas you had to learn how to use a computer. We need to be careful not to demand respect solely on the basis of age.” he said.
