Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the daughter of former Delta State governor, James Ibori and federal lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has justified her decision to leave Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to her, she decided to resign from PDP because the party attempted to stifle her political aspirations.

Erhiatake went on to describe her action as the best decision of her political career.

While boasting that her new party will soon take over Delta State from PDP, she expressed gratitude to her supporters and APC leaders for their encouragement.

“We will bury PDP in Ologbo River, the bridge between Delta and Edo states. I am already at home – APC is supreme.

“The people in PDP wanted to kill my political aspirations, but thank God, I have finally left,” she said.

TheNiche had earlier reported that  Erhiatake recently dumped PDP for APC.

Speaking on her defection, the immediate past Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege,
hailed the lawmaker and described her as a political bulldozer.

He also expressed confidence that her move, along with the support of other APC members, would help the party secure Delta State in the 2027 elections.

“With Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu’s support, the APC is better positioned to take over Delta.

“Her energy and dedication will greatly strengthen our chances,” Omo-Agege said.
