Arrizabalaga who lost his place to Mendy during Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel’s reign at Stamford Bridge is now the first-choice goalkeeper under Graham Potter.

The Blues brought Kepa from La Liga in 2018, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in history when he made a £72m switch from Athletic Bilbao.

On arrival at Stamford Bridge, Kepa made a series of errors which led him to lose his position to an in-form Senegalese goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.

But Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, who has been impressed by his revival at Chelsea, has expressed delight at the Spain international’s new found form at Stamford Bridge, calling it ‘miraculous’ and ‘magnificent’.

Speaking on the latest edition of Wrighty’s House podcast, he said: “The man’s changed. He’s gone from a caterpillar to a butterfly with the saves he’s making.

“What he’s gone through to now get back into the team is nothing short of miraculous in terms of his mental strength. It’s magnificent.”
