The governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, has said that he would not resign over the abduction of 27 students of the Government Science College (GSC) Kagara.
During a press conference, the governor said: “I am not considering resigning anything. This is the first time students are being kidnapped in this state”.
The students were abducted alongside 14 others when armed bandits attacked their school on Wednesday morning.
Some Nigerians said the incident, which has been part of a trend of attacks on schools in the northern part of the country, is an indictment on the state government.

He, however, added that the state is doing its best to ensure the students are released within “the next few days or hours”.
