‘I see myself becoming an icon soon’

Singer, Mukoro Kercy Imene a.k.a. KC Dbonz, has said that he sees himself becoming a music icon in five years.

“I see my music bringing a new dawn to rap. Nigerian artistes have overtime been stereotyped, what many people want to rhyme, it is literature, when you say going, you put doing, they want to rhyme. They want to do punch rhymes. Well this is an artiste from the old era, who is also in the new era. I see myself encouraging people who are tighter than me to come out. And in five years, I see myself becoming an icon in the industry,” he said.

The artiste, who performed at the public presentation event for TheNiche on August 16 in Lagos, explained that he has been in music since 1999 and released his first video in 2000.

“I shot the video here in Ikeja, Lagos. I was in a two-man crew then and we released a song for Nigeria’s Olympics football team, but Germany beat Nigeria at the 2000 Olympics,” he said.
