Ex-minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Saturday said he gets N577,000 monthly pension as a former governor of Lagos.
The former minister said when featured on Arise TV programme ‘Perspectives’ that the claims of receiving billions of naira as pension were untrue.
“The benefit I get I think is N577,000 monthly pension from Lagos State. That’s all I get,” Fashola said.
“So, in spite of all the stories that we got several billions of money (after leaving office), I’ve come out to deny that repeatedly.
“Well I don’t know how long it lasts, but all I know is that I get N577,000 per month consistently.”

When asked if there were other benefits from the Federal Government, he simply said “no”.
Fashola also urged Nigerians to be more optimistic about the country’s prospects and separate the government from the country.
He said, “When the government disappoints us, it is not our country that has let us down, but the elite and elected leaders. We shouldn’t throw our country under the bus because we are angry with our politicians.”
Fashola was governor of Lagos from 2007 to 2015.
He was the minister of power, works and housing from 2015 to 2019 and minister of works and housing from 2019 to 2023.
