The immediate past Chief Press Secretary to Bayelsa State Governor, Daniel Iworiso Markson, has said that the most effective way to check rumour mongering in the state was constant Town Hall meeting by the government.

Markson spoke on the floor of the state House of Assembly  during his

screening as commissioner nominee by lawmakers.

He said that town hall meeting was a

portent tool to engage the citizenry on government policies and

programmes and hence nip in the bud unfounded rumors.

The former CPS also faulted the report from the National Bureau of Statistics which had ranked Bayelsa as the least in internet penetration among the 36 states of the federation.

He said that the report was not founded on the reality on ground in the state.

Meanwhile, the commissioner designate has been urged to assist the governor to complete the projects initiated by the administration as he joins the state Executive Council.

The Speaker of the state assembly, Konbowei Friday Benson, gave the advice after the screening of the nominee on the floor of the Assembly.

He urged him to “bring down his head” and contribute meaningfully to the success of the Restoration government for the few years remaining in the tenure of the administration.

In the same vein, the Deputy Speaker, Abraham Ngobere, urged the nominee to initiate good orientation programme that would improve productivity in the ministry he would be deployed.

He charged the nominee not to “micro-manage” staff of his ministry, but use his close relationship with the Governor to attract goodness to the ministry and improve the living standard of the people.

On his part, Daniel Igali told the Commissioner designate that “Service should be the watch word”, adding, “Do unto others as you would want them to do to you”.
