A commercial sex worker on Thursday February 11, 2021, stabbed to death her male customer for refusal to pay her after several rounds of sex in an hotel in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The death of the young man, whose identity was not disclosed, attracted passers-by, who immediately torched the hotel, which is said to be a haven for prostitutes.
The torching of the hotel, however, crippled commercial activities in the state capital popular for its hospitality industry.
Sources said that they overheard the sex worker shouting that after grueling rounds of sex her victim refused to pay the agreed amount, and instead wanted to escape.
Though the name of the sex worker has not been disclosed, it was not immediately clear whether she is in the Police custody or not.
Besides, policemen and firefighters were seen at the scene working hard to put out the fire.
Another source confirmed that “A prostitute killed his male friend because he was unable to pay her after marathon sex. This is what happened.”
Hours after the hotel was razed, soldiers believed to have been deployed from the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, to the scene were seen trying to maintain order.
When contacted, the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, Chief Okechukwu Enyioha, confirmed that the security men had taken over the scene.
The council chief said, “Yes, I have been briefed and security men have taken over the scene of the incident. The security agencies are working hard and the law is being enforced.”
He further disclosed that he had activated the security apparatus in the LGA to ensure that the incident did not degenerate.
