Hilda Baci began the cook-a-thon on May 11 through May 15, cooking over 100 pots of food in 4 days

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record (GWR) holder in ‘Cook-a-thorn’, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has disclosed that she attempted to participate in Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show but didn’t get picked by the organisers.
She made this known while featuring on Cool FM Nigeria’s programme, The Big Friday Show, hosted by reality star, Tacha.
According to the 26-year-old Akwa Ibom-born chef, she auditioned for the popular TV reality show five times but failed to make the on all the occasions.
She went on to add that her plan was to first gain popularity with her appearance on the BBNaija reality show before attempting to break the GWR for the longest cooking marathon.

Speaking during the chat, the current GWR holder in ‘Cook-a-thorn’ said: “I actually tried to get on Big Brother [Naija] for a while. I think I auditioned about four or five times.
“The plan for the cook-a-thorn was still in the pipeline, so my goal was to go to Big Brother and then come out and do the cook-a-thorn.”
GWR certified Hilda Baci, as the holder of the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes in June, a month after attempting to break the existing record.
Prior to this, the previous record of 87 hours 45 minutes was set in 2019 by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon.
Baci began the cook-a-thon on Thursday, May 11 and continued through to Monday, May 15, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
