Hilda Baci also said she initially thought her dad was joking until he failed to turn up on her matriculation day

Popularly celebrity chef and the Guinness World Record holder in Cook-a-thon, Hilda Bassey better known as Hilda Baci, has narrated why his father, Effiong Bassey Edem abandoned her and her siblings.
The 27-year-old made the revelation during a recent interview with Taymesan on the ‘Tea with Tay’ podcast.
According to her, the relationship between her and her father used to be cordial and he was present in her life and that of her siblings, until an altercation between him and their mother made him abandon the entire family.
She went on to say she initially thought he was joking until he failed to turn up on her matriculation day after gaining admission into a higher institution.

Speaking during the chat Hilda Baci said: “For me, I will say one of the biggest issues was when he abandoned me. He didn’t abandon me from on set. He was present for us to some extent.
“But when it dawned on me, was when my dad and mom had issues, and I was in 300 level second semester in University.
“I pretty much remember my conversation with my father on one matriculation day. I called him, I was like, you didn’t bring food for me and his response was like, ‘Who’s your dad?’.
“It later dawned on me years after that he was not actually joking.”
