Hilda Baci officially confirmed Guinness World Records holder for second time after original cookathon title

Celebrity master chef Hilda Baci has been officially confirmed Guinness World Records (GWR) holder for cooking the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice in Lagos on September 12, an event that turned into a food festival during which more than 20,000 fans were served.

GWR based in London on Monday announced on X: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

The day after the cooking, a GWR representative had visited the venue, tasted the meal, and declared it “delicious”.

Hilda, 28, a sociology graduate, won her first GWR in 2023 for a cooking marathon that lasted 93 hours and 11 minutes and shot her to international fame. That feat was later surpassed by someone else in another country.

Jollof rice is a delicacy in Nigeria and across West Africa, notably in Ghana whose nationals enjoy competing with Nigerians for the best taste.

Hilda’s latest achievement came off a grand culinary spectacle held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. tagged the “Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci”, which generated massive social media buzz and attracted thousands of attendees in Nigeria’s richest and most populous state.

The attendees included Nollywood people and other celebrities such as Funke Akindele, Kaffy, Tomike Adeoye, Enioluwa, Peller, Veekee James, Femi Atere, Samuel Banks, Alex Unusual, Folagbade Banks; and Oludipe David, aka Spryo, who treated the audience to his hit songs.

Bamidele, wife of Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, also attended the gig.
