The Labour Party (LP) has raised an alarm over the invasion of their office in Owerri, the Imo State capital by thugs and policemen, allegedly acting on the instruction of the Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
A Save Our Soul (SOS) message sent to TheNiche by Obiora Ifoh, National Publicity Secretary of LP, reads: “Imo State Labour Party office in Owerri under serious attack by Hope Uzodinma led thugs and policemen. They are presently demolishing structures in our secretariat. Please let the entire world hear this and come to our assistance.”
This is the third time in five months that the Labour Party’s office in Owerri has been attacked by suspected thugs and state agents.

On April 4, the same secretariat of the party in Owerri was reportedly sealed by the Nigeria Police Force.
The national secretary of the party, Umar Farouk, said the Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was behind the action.
He had said: “The national leadership of the Labour Party is shocked over the invasion and occupation of its Secretariat in Owerri, today, Monday, April 3, 2023, by the agents of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, including thugs and unauthorised policemen from the government house.
“Such an illegal occupation is akin to a similar invasion on the same secretariat on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.”
