President Muhammadu Buhari is expected at his son, Yusuf’s wedding (Fatiha) to Zahra Bayero in Bichi, Kano State, on Friday, the event’s Organising Committee Chairman Shehu Ahmed told reporters Thursday.
Ahmed said the wedding, expected to be attended by eminent personalities from within and outside the state, will start at 1:30 pm after the Friday Jumat prayer.
It was learnt on Thursday evening that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje will on Saturday present the Staff of Office to the Yusuf’s father-in-law, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who is the Emir of Bichi.
Ahmed said: “We have two historic events on Friday and Saturday in Bichi — the wedding Fatiha of Buhari’s son with the daughter of Emir of Bichi and the coronation of the emir.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to grace the wedding Fatiha of his son and the daughter of the Emir of Bichi in Bichi town on Friday.
“A special prayer would be conducted at the Central Mosque, Bichi, by 4:30pm.
“Activities marking the coronation of the Emir include a coronation lecture to be held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, on Thursday (today); while the ceremony for the presentation of the staff of office would be held at the Bichi stadium on Saturday.
“Adequate arrangements had also been put in place by the various subcommittees to ensure the success of the two events.”
There was heavy security presence within the Kano metropolis, particularly in Bichi, today, ahead of tomorrow’s wedding and Saturday’s coronation.
