Rahman Jago, a socialite and associate of the ace Afrobeats singer and songwriter Damini Ogulu—better known as Burna Boy—has confirmed speculations that the Grammy-winning artist has converted to Islam.

He made this known on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) while replying to an enquiry from a curious netizen.

Burna Boy, who comes from a Christian background, first sparked reports of his conversion after stating in a podcast a few weeks ago that he embraced Islam “at some point” in his pursuit of truth.

Since that interview, his religious affiliation has remained a subject of intense speculation.

However, Jago recently shared a video on his X handle featuring Burna Boy praising Allah alongside himself and several other men in what appeared to be a bar, accompanied by the caption, “Allahu Akbar.”

Shortly after, Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, reposted the video.

He also noted that the ‘Last Last’ crooner seemed “so, so happy” and offered a prayer for Allah to make his journey with Islam easy for him.

In the comments section, a netizen asked Ahmad if the singer had truly converted.

Responding, he said that while some of Burna Boy’s close associates claimed he had, the singer himself was yet to confirm the reports personally.

Crucially, while quoting the fan’s enquiry, Jago intervened to provide a definitive answer, stating that Burna Boy has indeed converted.

“He converted. He is now a Muslim,” Jago wrote.
