Häuptle congratulates Super Falcons, admits Nigeria were better than Zambia

Zambia head coach, Nora Häuptle has admitted that the Super Falcons deserved to win Friday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations’ quarter-final match  because they were the better team.

Nigeria walloped Zambia 5-0 in the match played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca, Morocco.

The Copper Queens put up a timid fight in the game despite their high pedigree.

Osinachi Ohale, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiwendu Ihezuo all scored for Nigeria in the first half.

The Nigerian ladies made it a comprehensive victory after Tosin Demehin, and Folashade Ijamilusi scored  two more goals in the second half. 

Speaking after the game, Häuptle said 
the nine-time champions totally dominated the game and outplayed her team.

Ask if it was a deserved win, the Swiss tactician said, “Very clear loss for us. Congratulations to Nigeria for the well-deserved victory. I think today we need to accept that Nigeria was better than us.”

Super Falcons after the emphatic win will now face the winner of the South Africa versus Senegal clash in the semi-finals next Tuesday.
