Producers of Half of a Yellow Sun have said that the film adapted from a book of the same title by the award-winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is only available in cinemas in Nigeria.
“We encourage the general public to desist from visiting file-sharing or illegal sites to watch the film or buying illegal DVD copies in traffic or stores,” a statement from the producers said.
This is no doubt a reaction to the illegal sale of pirated copies of the film in Lagos traffic after the film recorded the biggest opening for a Nigerian film, and continues to dominate the box office with a solid fourth weekend outing.
The film that opened in Nigerian cinemas on August 1 is also now available for audiences in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria at Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, Polo Park, Enugu.
