Bishop Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese on Wednesday condoled with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, over the tragedy that occurred in Makka toward the final days of this year’s Hajj exercise.
In a statement signed by Kukah, made available in Sokoto, the Bishop said “we have followed the news of the tragedy and also with sadness, the fact that we have lost many of our very illustrious country men and women in the tragedy.
“We are still recovering from the shock and our prayers are with you and all our Muslim brethren across the world in general, but in Nigeria in particular.’’
Kukah, who is also the Chairman, Committee for Inter-Religious Dialogue for Catholic Bishops’ Conference, stated that “on behalf of the catholic bishop’s of Nigeria , I extend our condolences to the immediate families of the dead.
“We have prayed for them in our Churches and we will continue to do so. May they all receive a merciful judgment and enjoy external peace in paradise.’’ (NAN)
