The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Kogi State ended abruptly in the early hours of Wednesday when gunmen invaded the venue of the election, Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, the state capital.
Voting had ended and the sorting of votes was going on when the gunmen stormed the venue and started shooting from different directions.
Security officers, aspirants, delegates and others scampered for safety as sporadic gunshots rang in the air.
The number of casualties has yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
