Gunmen abduct teenage girl after extorting N8m from her family

At the weekend, about 10 terrorists had invaded the residence of a prominent businessman in Garo town, Kabo Council in Kano and kidnapped a teenage girl named Zainab after extorting N8 million from the family.

The men, who were armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, reportedly stormed the home of one Auwal at about 1.20am by breaking through a small door.

“They gathered the entire family in one place, instilling fear and panic,” a source told Solacebase.

The attackers demanded money, prompting Auwal to plead for his family’s safety and pledge to meet their demands. He handed over ₦8 million to the gunmen.

However, despite receiving the money, the kidnappers abducted the family’s eldest daughter, a recent secondary school graduate, and escaped with her.

The victim’s whereabouts are unknown, as the kidnappers have yet to contact the family.

The attack has left the community in a state of fear and uncertainty, with residents urging the authorities to address worsening insecurity in the area.

Kano Police Command spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident and said the police have launched investigation to apprehend the kidnappers.
