Guardiola claims 9 clubs told PL to ban Man City

Guardiola made the revelation while reacting to Chelsea’s spending spree during the January transfer window

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has alleged about nine clubs in the Premier League wrote the league management to ban his team over the money they spend during transfer windows.

Since the summer transfer window, the west London club have spent over €600 million on new signings.

That included a record transfer worth €120m for Enzo Fernandez from Benfica and seven other players added to Graham Potter’s squad throughout last month.

When asked what would be the response of the football community in England if it was Man City who spent the same amount, Guardiola said: “I know what would happen.

“What Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, United, without good players you have to spend. Now the market is ‘wow’.

“There are regulations, I don’t forget the eight or nine teams that sent a letter to the Premier League to get us banned. We are the fifth team in net spend.”

Man City face Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, they will be aiming to reduce the gap between them and league leader, Arsenal.
