Guardiola admits qualifying Man City for UCL ‘ll be difficult

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that getting his team to qualify for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) this season will be “difficult”.

The Spanish tactician made the admission after the Premier League champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton on Saturday at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Pervis Estupinan levelled with a stunning free-kick.

Omar Marmoush then put City in front again, before an own goal from his team-mate Abdukodir Khusanov meant the teams had to settle for a point apiece.

The result leaves Man City sitting provisionally in fifth place with nine games to go.

Asked by reporters after the encounter if the Citizens can still qualify for the Champions League, Guardiola replied, “Until the end, I think so.”

He went on to say with nine more games to play he will try his best to get his team above the finishing line. 

The City manager, however, admitted that the task of finishing in the first five positions in the Premier League will not be an easy one.

He added, “Nine games, nine finals, I’m always confident. I am a master.

“I find the positiveness in everything. I know it will be difficult.”
