Gravitas Group for Good Governance has condemned the reported invitation of foreign soldiers to fight terrorism in Nigeria.

Reports had said American soldiers and the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested a suspected terrorist in Abuja amid alerts by foreign bodies over alleged imminent attack in the FCT.

Although the DSS has discredited the reports, the Gravitas Group said in a statement on Saturday by its convener, High Chief Tola Adeniyi, that a picture of DSS with American soldiers has lent credence to the reports.

The group said, “Adewale Adenaike, chairman of phase 3, Trademore Estate, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was reported to have narrated how officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) and some American soldiers arrested a suspected terrorist in his community.

“To boot, picture of the American soldiers and DSS operatives was shown in the report to emphasize its veracity. Which means this is not a story that can be denied in accordance with the character of Buhari’s administration.”

Gravitas Group said it is “seriously alarmed, worried and disturbed” by the development.

It asked, “Who invited these foreign soldiers? When were they invited? Under what laws were they invited? What exactly were they invited for?
