The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday said it had deployed over 150 Ukrainian and Russian sniffer dogs to hot spots in Ekiti.
Mr Evans Ewurum, the Deputy Commandant-General of the corps (Operations), disclosed this to newsmen in Ekiti
Ewurum said the effort was to ensure free, peaceful and successful conduct of the governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, June 21, for the conduct of the exercise.
He said the deployment of the dogs was aimed at exposing any form of terrorist attack during the poll.
The deputy commandant-general, however, urged the youth to shun criminal activities that could hinder free and fair election and advised those that had no business with the election to stay away from polling units.
He also pleaded with parents to warn their children against violence.
