Gov Otti: An Epitome of political will

By Okechukwu Obioha

Whether for good or evil, it is sadly inevitable that all political leadership requires the artifices of theatrical illusion. In the politics of a democracy, the shortest distance between two points is often a crooked line.

However, for every rule there’s an exception and the exception to the above assertion can be directly ascribed to the leadership of HIs Excellency, Governor Dr. Alex C. Otti OFR.

In just 2 months, it is very glaring to all and sundry that the new government in charge is determined to resuscitate the God’s Own State into what it ought to be.

It would not be inappropriate to state that 2023 will be on record as the year Abia staged her Industrial Revolution.

The validity of this assertion is made with the influx of CEO/MDs of companies coupled with a meeting held on the 26th of July 2023 by the Governor which consisted of renown industrialists led by Sir Alex Maduako, the CEO of Zandob Industries.

This meeting was also graced with the presence of a Nigerian engineer, innovator, a former minister for science and technology and one of the inventors of the E-Design Concept, Professor Bartholomew Nnaji, with Emma Obi (Polymer industries LTD), Kenneth Chukwu (Guiness Industries LTD) and Chiduwam Ehisanya, the Secretary of the Association who also runs CHEMLAP Nig LTD.

The Governor also stated in the meeting that he has been made abreast of the road from Osisioma which he stated has been awarded by the federal government and that he will promptly engage with the Minister Of Works whenever the President designates his cabinet.

Understanding that it would be quite quixotic for the government to industrialize the state without the presence of steady power supply, a pioneering company in Nigeria’s power industry, Geometrics Power Limited has been accredited as a private and major generation and distribution of power in Abia state. This is to ensure that businesses and these emerging industries alike will never have to be discouraged with the failures of power supply which has been what the state had a penchant for.

The political will of the incumbent governor establish the state as the commercial and industrial hub of Africa, no matter whose ox is gored, coupled with a current shift in modus operandi or rather an overhaul of all systems of government has left the opposition with baseless utterances aimed at painting the government’s prowess as a theatrical illusion.

The extremity of these unfounded rancor was exerted on Tuesday the 24th of July 2023 at approximately 4pm when the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu was viciously attacked by some gunmen at SAMEC, located near faulks road, Aba.
The incident occurred while Dr Ukaegbu was taking a familiarization tour to markets in Aba metropolis.

Could it be that the progressive policies and renovations ongoing in our markets have excruciatingly itched our oppressors into taking such criminal and roguish steps in a bid to scare away the government from executing her good intentions?: I would not want to believe that the predecessors of Abia’s helm of affairs would stoop so low though all fingers are pointing towards their directions.

Permit me to contend that Dr Alex Otti, knowing his antecedents, is never a personality that would be cowed or deterred from doing what is right and protecting the common interest of the electorates.

A highly commercialized and adequately Industrialized Abia will hasten not only infrastructural but a general development of the God’s own state in all ramifications This is sure to immensely improve the standard of living for the people.

Okechukwu Obioha Jr.(Charisma), writes from Abia.
