Gospel artist Taiwo of Adegbodu Twins dies

Taiwo and Kehinde Adegbodu’s songs and live performances earned them a devoted following, particularly in the South-West region.

Celebrated gospel artist, Taiwo Adegbodu—one half of the acclaimed Adegbodu Twins—has passed away, throwing the Nigerian gospel music community into mourning.

The tragic news was confirmed on Sunday morning on the duo’s official Facebook fan page by his twin brother and ministry partner, Kehinde Adegbodu.

In a heartfelt post shared on the page, he wrote: “Taiwo, why would you leave me and your kids without notification? My heart is bleeding. Lord, how do you want me to cope without him? God, why? This is too much for me to bear!”

Fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele also confirmed the development, mourning him via a post shared on her Instagram page.

Posting a photograph of the singer, she captioned it: “Erin wo, Ajanaku sun bi oke. Hard to bear. Goodnight, bro.”

The news comes just days after gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu—fondly called ‘Omije Ojumi’ after her widely loved track of the same title—died.

Taiwo and Kehinde Adegbodu were renowned in gospel circles for their spirited worship sessions, twin-stage performances, and dynamic ministrations, which resonated with churches and Christian gatherings across Nigeria.

Their music and live performances earned them a devoted following, particularly in the South-West region.
