Gombe State University and Green White Green (GWG), are set for a partnership that will announce the emergence of a Sports Center that would produce sports facilities of international repute to serve as breeding ground for football and Athletics talents
The State is about to witness maiden higher institutions football, Athletics Competitions in Secondary Schools local Government Areas and Communities.
Leading the charge is the Chairman of Gombe State Athletics Association, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe who is primed for championing the Inter-secondary schools Athletics and Gombe state Higher Institutions football competition.
With inauguration ceremonies planned in a few days, the interfacing with Board of Trustees along with Executive Committees of Gombe state Primary Schools Games Masters Association and the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sports development at Gombe state University’s Multi purpose Hall have been sorted.
Chairman, Technical director of the organising committee, Prince Simon Ayuba said Sports lovers in the State will experience multi-purpose events in football competitions both in Government and Private Higher institutions, including inter-secondary schools track and field events which could happen in all eleven local government Areas including free Athletes registration.
Speaking further, Prince Ayuba said that progress have been made as the level of cooperation given by the head of school Administrators and Games Masters are very encouraging and would ultimately lead to expected success
Speaking on the level of preparedness concerning the Linea series activities planned to commence on February 29th 2024, the initiator and sole sponsor of the events, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara said he is determined to follow the lines of programmes ahead as only the Sky will be the limit of the number of Athletic and football talents that would emerge from Gombe State.
Hon. Gombe, reiterated that one of the interesting programmes that will take place would be the signing of Memorandum of understanding between Gombe state university and The Green white Green (GWG), in partnership towards the development of Sports Center to improve those sports facilities to international standard which could be World Class breeding Arena harvest football and Athletics that can rub shoulders across the Globe.
Programme on agenda will be the honoring of credible talented Gombe state Athletics Representatives scouted from Gombe Athletics Academy. They hoisted Gombe State flag with Medals for the first time in Youth Track&Field events in Asaba.
The founder of the Academy, Hon. Gara Gombe has also resolved to host and recognized the young athletes effort at the 7th National Youth Games 2023, in Asaba, Delta State with certificates and honorarium for their dogged and determined achievement.
