Chairman Alhaji Gara Shuaibu Gombe said the trials are to prepare athletes for the National Youth Games with Delta State as host and other competitions.

Gombe State Amateur Athletics Association trials for Club and youth games come up on Monday 16 January 2023.
The programme of events has been released, according to Gombe AthIetics Amateur Association GAAA.
Chairman Alhaji Gara Shuaibu Gombe said the trials are to prepare athletes for the National Youth Games with Delta State as host and other Competitions.
Alhaji Shuaibu Gombe insisted the State wants to begin early for Athletes to be attuned to modern rules that govern the sports both at grassroots, National and professional levels.
Events that would feature at the one-day competitions are 100m/ 200m Boys and Girls, 400m Boys and Girls, 5000m, Long Jump, Shot put, 800m finals.

Morning Season Events
- 9:00am – 800m women finals
- 9:10am – 800m men finals
- 9:20am – 100m women Heat
- 9:30am – 100m men Heat
- 9:35am – Long Jump women Finals
- 9:50am – Long Jump me Finals
- 10:00am – Short put women Finals
- 10:20am -Short put men Finals
- 10:30am – 200m women Final A&B
- 10:45am – 200m men Finals A&B
Evening Season Events
- 3:30pm – Hight Jump women Finals
- 4:00pm – Hight Jump men Finals
- 4:30pm – 100m women Finals
- 4:40pm – 100m men Finals
- 4:50pm – 5,000m women Finals
- 5:10pm – 5,000m men Finals
- 5:30pm – 400m women Finals
- 5:40pm – 400m men Finals
