Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo has denied writing to a Nigerian presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and asking him to seek treatment.
An online report had quoted Akufo-Addo as urging Tinubu to go for treatment and give Peter Obi a chance.
However, Akufo-Addo said in a tweet on Tuesday that he never wrote such letter to Tinubu nor to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to ‘give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health,’” he said.
“This is completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it.”
Akufo-Addo added that he will not interfere with the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria.

“I have written no such letter to the APC leader, and it will not occur to me to do so. Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations, and I am not going to be the one to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria,” the Ghanaian leader said.
Last year, Tinubu spent over a month outside the country, particularly in the United Kingdom, where he underwent knee surgery.
His health has been a major cause for worry for many of his supporters. But the former governor of Lagos State has repeatedly said he is fit and that the job of a president has more to do with the intellect and not manual labour.
Recently, a video of the National Association of Seadogs, popularly known as the Pyrates Confraternity, mocking Tinubu over his health during a rally went viral.
The group’s leadership rebuked its members for the act, stating that it has no political affiliations. Pyrates Confraternity was founded by Prof Wole Soyinka during his university days.
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo kicked off his second term in office in January 2021 after being sworn in as duly elected in the December 7, 2020 general election.
