German Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Zenner, said yesterday that his country has embarked on several projects of solar energy to improve power supply in the country.
Zenner made the assertion in an address titled “Investment Opportunities In Nigeria” at the quarterly breakfast meeting organised by Institute of Directors Nigeria, (IOD), Abuja branch in Abuja.
He said that the projects are currently taking place in Sokoto, Niger, Cross River and Bauchi states.
According to him, a team of experts and engineers have been inaugurated to supervise the project.
He explained that feasibility studies have been going on to determine which other areas are appropriate for the project. He maintained that the project was one of the opportunities to increase power energy in the country.
Also speaking, the FCT branch president of the Institute, Chief Rex Onyeabo, described the meeting as a leading gathering of directors and business leaders in the country.
According to him, the role of the institute is to increase competence and ensure good governance in the country.
He however commended the effort of Germany for embarking on solar energy projects in the country.
