Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appealed to the military to storm Kano forest and remove the bandits who have made the place their abode.
At a meeting with the new Army Chief, Farouk Yahaya, in Abuja, Ganduje said bandits have been massing in Falgore forest in Kano as if preparing for attacks against the people of the state.
He said the Kano government would give the military every support they need to rid Kano of the bandits.
Bandits have been laying siege in certain areas of the North West region, especially Zamfara and Katsina States. Kano has largely been spared of the menace. Ganduje is scared that if nothing is done, that Kano may as well become a hideout of the bandits.
He said: “I am here to seek the help of the Nigerian Army to sustain the peace in Kano State; bandits have converted some forests in the state to hideouts.
“We are building houses, schools and hospitals for the herdsmen in some of the forests but we want the Army to commence activities at the Falgore forest.”
