Galadima pins down Buhari as having allowed Idris to engage in alleged fraud

Buba Galadima has rubbished Muhammadu Buhari’s claim to fighting graft, even with the arrest of suspended federal Accountant General Ahmed Idris for allegedly stealing N80 billion from the treasury.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Idris on 16 May for allegedly defrauding the government of that sum but later let it be known that investigation has shown he engaged in another alleged N90 billion.
Galadima, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) board of trustees (BOT), said the arrest of Idris does not justify the President’s claim that he is combatting greed and graft.
“Do you believe this man is fighting corruption because he arrested the Accountant General? How many times was he told of the actions of the Accountant General?
“It was because the pot was almost overflowing and there was nothing he could do that he was forced to pick him,” Galadima said on Channels Television.
“It’s not the first time. Even when the Accountant General’s tenure had expired, he allowed him to continue.
“When did his tenure expire? Two years ago… Why did he [Buhari] leave him in public office? Was he [Idris] greasing the palms of some people around him?
“They said Idris stole N80 billion. I didn’t say so, they said it. Imagine… N80b. They are too greedy. What will one person do with N80 billion?”

Treasury looting the beginning of insecurity
Galadima, a former ally of Buhari, said whoever becomes the President has got a lot of work to do, per reporting by Vanguard.
“He [the next President] has to build trust between the governed and the people in government. He has to create an atmosphere that every Nigerian will feel he belongs to.
“The beginning of insecurity in Nigeria starts with the stealing of public funds by governors (the local government funds).
“As long as any government cannot address this there will be insecurity, because money will not be in circulation, because people steal more than they need.”
Galadima was the National Secretary of defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and one of the signatories to its merger with the APC.
He later broke away from the APC together with some other members to form a reformed APC.
Galadima afterwards denied his affiliation with the two dominant political parties, the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He is now campaigning for former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
