FUT Minna to graduate 57 students with first class

The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, the Niger State capital, has annouced that a total of 57 students would be graduating with first class degrees at its 29th convocation fixed for February 1, 2020.

The figure is against 74 students that graduated with First Class in 2019.

  The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, who made the disclosure at a press conference in Minna, revealed that 926 of the graduands were in the second class upper category, 1,733 second class lower; 836 third class and 45 pass degrees.

  Giving the breakdown of the graduating students, the VC explained that 3,597 students would receive first degrees, 629 master degrees, while 94 others will be given Doctorate degrees and 182 will be awarded with post-graduate diplomas, respectively.

  On the percentage and number of graduands, he said, “In both years, the percentages that constituted First Class, Second Class Upper and Pass degrees are two percent, 26 percent and 1.25 percent, respectively.”

  A comparison of the 2019 graduands with those of 2020  in the 1st Class category shows a difference of 17 graduates.

  Bala however stated that there were slight variations for Second Class Lower and Pass degrees.

  “This year’s postgraduate awardees (905) are more than last year’s (772) by 133. Also, the numbers this year for PhD and Masters are higher than last year’s, while the number of postgraduate diploma for last year are more than this year,” the VC added.
