FUT Minna signs MoU with GNC to set up first International Centre for Emerging Technology

The management of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up an International Centre for Emerging Technology (ICET) to incubate projects.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, before signing the MoU  between the university and the Global Network for Cybersolution Limited (GNC) pointed out that setting up the centre would give room for high quality research and publications.

  “The centre will cover the fast paced digital technology field, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (AIR), Virtual Realty (VR) Blockchain Technology (BCT), Big Data Analytics (BDA), Cyberspace Security and Governance.”

  The VC revealed that the centre when established would be the first in country and will be giving both students and staff the opportunity to tackle contemporary ideas.

  The President and Co-Founder of GNC, Ambassador Olusegun Olugbile, had explained that establishing the centre would assist in solving national and global developmental problems.

  According to him, “The centre will serve as an engine of innovation in emerging technology for development on cybersecurity intervention, digital cooperation, cybercrime laws implementation, Internet governance strategy, and emerging technology for development in Africa.”

  Area of focus, Olugbile stated would be on cybercrime counter-measures, cybersecurity, Internet governance, Child Online Protection, Law Enforcement assisted programs, emerging technology for sustainable development (IG4SD), and digital economic strategy.
