Funke Akindele, however, noted that some filmmakers considered her for minor movie roles

Popular Nollywood actress, filmmaker and politician, Funke Akindele has revealed that she was denied major movie roles while struggling to find her feet in the Nigerian movie industry.
According to the mother of two, she was skimmed out of getting the main character role in movies because the decision-makers in the industry felt she was too “ugly” to play such a role.
Akindele made this known while featuring on the latest episode of the TokeMoments podcast, hosted by Toke Makinwa, Akindele, where she said she lost major roles in movies because of her physique.
She further stated that her colleague, Iyabo Ojo helped her several times during her ordeals with filmmakers who turned her down because of her looks.

The talented thespian, however, noted that during the period, some producers considered her only good enough for minor roles and the saga made her shed tears.
Speaking during the interview, Funke Akindele said; “I remember people telling me, ‘You are not fine. You don’t have ass. You don’t have boobs. You will not be in this film.
“And, I remember crying. A lot of times I would cry, break down, get into the bathroom and cry.”
