Funke Akindele first broke the record of the highest-grossing movie in Nollywood when Omo Ghetto: The Saga earned N636m in 2021

Popular Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele has caused a buzz on social media after her new movie shattered her old record.
According to FilmOne, the recently released film ‘Battle On Buka Street’ (BOBS) is now the highest-grossing Nigerian movie at the box office, eclipsing the record set before by Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
The actress turned politician first broke the Nollywood record after Omo Ghetto: The Saga earned N636m in 2021, However, BOBS has now dwarfed that.

After the news of the record breaking feat was announced by the producer of the film on social media, fans of Funke Akindele trooped to the comment section of the post to hail the ace thespian.
There were, however, few netizens who accused her of stylishly blowing her own trumpet.
An IG user identified as @iam_asanto wrote: “Make them tell that noise maker, way change dey make her brag… Funke humble them.”
Another internet user @adedoyindaramolaade said: “this one’s no dey blow trumpet, them dey help them blow am.”
@oyinadu added: “And some people are asking @officialjandor why he chose @funkejenifaakindele against all odds ……… if she can drive this in the movie industry, she will in the government.”
Another netizen, @ogunbadejo_funmilayo wrote: “And i never watch ham oooo…. Sunday here I come.”

Battle On Buka Street was released in December 2022, and within 3 months of hitting the cinemas, it has outdone all of Funke Akindele’s former box office releases.
