Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, may be staying back in London if his deal to leave Emirate for their London rival,  Fulham, pulls through this summer.

The shot-stopper became the second-choice goalkeeper when Aaron Ramsdale, who was signed from Sheffield United last summer, took his chances in goal to claim the number one position.

The signing of American goalkeeper, Matt Turner from New England Revolution in the January transfer, has further made Leno’s exit inevitable.

Many expected the 30-year-old to return to his homeland, to ply his trade but that looks unlikely now.

According to The Athletic, Fulham are in talks to sign Leno this summer and he is one of their “more favoured candidates”.

It also reported that the German international is more favourably disposed to remaining in London than moving to another place.

Bernd Leno joined Arsenal in 2018 from Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen and he has appeared for The Gunners in goal 101 times.

The German made just four Premier League appearances all campaign during 2021-22. He also featured four times across the FA Cup and Carabao Cup

The Cottagers, who won promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners, have turned to Leno as they look to build their squad for a top-flight campaign.

Marek Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga shared goalkeeping duties for Marco Silva’s side while they were in the second tier of English football.
