A former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Nurudeen Adekola has passed on at the age of 94.
TheNiche learnt he died on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
A statement announcing his death read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a distinguished member of our community, Justice Nurudeen Olalekan Adekola, of Cassia Street, Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan. He is survived by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, who are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
“We pray that God grants his soul eternal rest and comforts his family during this difficult time. His legacy as a respected jurist and pillar of our community will be deeply missed. May his memory be a blessing to us all.”

Adekola, who has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites is survived by his wife, Alhaja Sekinat Olapeju Adekola Animashaun, six children, and grandchildren.
He began his judicial career in 1977 and was later appointed as a judge of the High Court of Justice in Oyo State.
He served across various judicial divisions, including Ife, Ilesha, Saki and Ibadan.
He was appointed in 1995 as Acting Chief Judge of Oyo State and became the substantive Chief Judge in 1997.
