President Muhammadu Buhari may again ignore the senate as he has done previously on the motion that he sacks the service chiefs.

The service chiefs are the managers of Nigeria’s defence system including the Chief of Defence staff, General Gabriel Olonishakin, chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

Apart from the IGP, Adamu, the others have held the position since 2015.

During Tuesday, December 1 plenary, the senate reiterated their previous demand that the president sack the service chiefs following their failure to secure Nigeria and Nigerians.

The motion was moved by former Borno State governor who is the Senator representing Borno North in the National Assembly, Kashim Shettima.

The motion was supported by majority of the lawmakers who said Buhari should immediately replace the security chiefs with new ones.
