Flying Eagles forward, Ibrahim Muhammad has dedicated his 61st-minute goal in the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup Round of 16 against Argentina to Nigeria’s new president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Nigerian boys defeated the sixth-time winner of the competition 2-0 in front of a packed Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario on Wednesday night.
Muhammad opened the scoring for the Flying Eagles in the impressive win, after he received a through pass from Emmanuel Umeh and fired past Argentina goalkeeper, Gomes.
The Ladan Bosso-led boys later doubled their advantage in the second minute of added time through Rilwanu Sakhi and held on to ensure they moved into the quarter-final stage.

Speaking at the post-match interview of the game, Muhammad, who was scoring his first goal at the tournament, dedicated his goal to the new president and thanked his teammates for making the win possible.
He said: “I dedicate my goal to our new president, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and I really appreciate my teammates for their efforts to win,” said
The striker also said the Flying Eagles were not intimidated by the host nation, who are serial winners and overwhelming favourites to advance to the Round of 8.
“No, that was not on my mind. We were comfortable, my teammate and I, and that’s football,” he said when asked if they feared the Argentines.
Nigeria with the win against Argentina, will now face the winner between Uruguay and Korea Republic in the quarter-final of the age-grade competition.
