Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi has explained why he and his teammates are desperate to defend their WAFU B U-20 Championship title.
Nigeria will on Wednesday, October 30, defend the trophy they won two years ago in Niamey, Niger Republic.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side will take on the Black Satellites of Ghana in the final of the competition in Lome.
The Flying Eagles reached the final after beating Niger Republic 3-1 in the semi-final, while Ghana dispatched Cote d’Ivoire to set up a final against Nigeria.
Speaking before the eagerly anticipated final, Bameyi tried to justify why Nigeria are bent on having a successful title defence.
According to him, despite reaching two consecutive finals, they still desire to win the trophy more than the Ghanaian team.
“We’re delighted to be in the final again, so there’s one more dance to dance,” said the Bayelsa United central defender.
He added, “We need the cup, we need the cup more than Ghana and we will give our very best to bring it home again.”
