FJSC appoints Shafa new Chief Registrar for Federal High Court

Following the elevation of the outgoing Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, Suleiman Amida Hassan to the Bench of the Honourable Court, the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) at its 98th meeting held on January 22, 2026, appointed Yahaya Yakubu Shafa Esq as Acting Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court with effect from February 17, 2026.

According to a release by the Director of Information, Federal High Court of Nigeria, Catherine Oby Christopher (PHD) on Tuesday February 17, the appointment of the new Chief Registrar by FJSC is in line with the Court’s commitment to ensuring continuity, efficiency and stability in its administrative leadership.

Mr Yahaya Yakubu Shafa FCArb. is a seasoned Judicial Administrator and legal practitioner with over eighteen (18) years of progressive experience in the justice sector.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Shafa served as executive secretary of the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission where he played a pivotal role in judicial administration, policy coordination and institutional development.

His wealth of experience in court administration, legal practice and institutional reforms is expected to further strengthen the administrative machinery of the Federal High Court and enhance the efficient delivery of justice.

While congratulating Mr Shafa on his new appointment and wishing him successful tenure in his new position, the Federal High Court management and members of staff congratulate Mr Sulaiman Amida Hassan on his elevation to the Bench as he hands over the administrative leadership to Mr Shafa.
