An early morning fire outbreak has razed parts of a building at the Federal Ministry of Finance located in the Central Business District, Abuja.
Black smoke was seen billowing from the building, following the outbreak.
According to reports, it started as early as 6:00 am with black smoke seen coming out from a part of the building.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, Olajide Oshundun who confirmed the incident however, told newsmen that the fire was put out with firefighting equipment at the Ministry within twenty minutes and that the effect of the fire incident is minor as it only affected the basement of the Ministry.

Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Finance in an official tweet explained the cause of the fire outbreak.
“The Federal Ministry of Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media. Rather, there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery Pack (photo inset). It was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty,” the tweet read.
This incident is coming barely a month after the building of the office of the accountant-general of the federation was gutted by fire.
